High Sheriff's Business Awards

The High Sheriff's Awards for Enterprise are the County's most prestigious Awards for business performance. Managed in partnership with Chester University the awards were introduced in 2006 by the then High Sheriff of Cheshire, David Briggs MBE, to recognise successful businesses across Cheshire and Wirral.  The aim is to highlight outstanding achievement by local companies.

The awards are endorsed and developed by each High Sheriff in office and have attracted significant support from a range of generous and loyal sponsors in excess of £500,000 during the last twelve years.

Entrants are judged by an independent panel chosen from the Cheshire business community.  They give their time voluntarily and judge businesses on a range of criteria including enterprise, responsible business practice, innovation, development and export.

The Awards are presented at an annual Awards Evening.  Previous guest speakers at the Awards have included Dr Sandeep Ranote, John Amaechi OBE, John Roberts, Prof Phil Redmond CBE and Mrs Alexis Redmond MBE, Tom Bloxham MBE, Ross Warburton MBE, Dr Pete Waterman OBE, Malcolm Walker CBE, John Timpson CBE, and Ian O’Doherty.  More than £16,000 has been raised during the Awards Evenings for nominated charities that have included Cheshire Community Foundation, Crimebeat, OnSide Youth Zones, Claire House and the Five Hospices of Cheshire.
